STRANDING OPTIONS

2 Strands: This is the default option of the cover, it holds 2 inserts inside the cover. The knot of the elastic band is hidden in the brass bead. Latching bands are required to hold more than 2 inserts.

4 Strands (Please leave a note during checkout for this option): This option allows you to accommodate 4 inserts in the cover without having to add latching bands. The knots of the elastics are hidden inside the cover. Latching bands could be added in order to hold more than 4 inserts.

About the leather:
Made from wonderfully tanned vegetable tanned cow leather. Vegetable tanning is a traditional way of tanning using tannic acids naturally found from plant species. The natural appearance before painted, has a slightly brownish tinge over a beige color, with a natural, woody and earthy smell. Due to the nature of the tannins, a unique patina will develop and "carmelize" over time.

This was my second order of a Traveler Journal in Wide, and again the wonderful leather convinced me 100%. Only the elastic band didn't convince me this time, it's a bit too thin for my needs. I tightened it afterwards so that my inserts would hold. That will work for now, but sooner or later I will have to get a stronger elastic, but that is not a big problem at all! I'm not dissatisfied though, the next custom-made product is already planned!

The traveler's notebook cover was exactly as described. I am giving it 4 stars because I have actually made better ones at home that have finished leather. This is an issue of personal taste, so if you like natural leather (as stated clearly in the description) then this might be the right product for you.
