You're looking at a briefcase completely handmade of the best leathers available. The exterior and handle of the briefcase are made from English Bridle leather from Sedgwick & Co in the UK. The interior and inner pocket is completely lined with Italian Buttero vegetable-tanned leather. Featuring a lockable closing mechanism from Amiet and brass hardware is sure to last a very long time. Each and every part of the briefcase is carefully put together and completely sewn together by hand. Every briefcase requires days of work to complete.

About the leather:
J&E Sedgwick’s traditional bridle leather is each is hand finished with a layer of wax of the leather. The leather had a very smooth grain with minimal marks on it. It's also available in a variety of colors, please contact me for availability if you would like other colors.

Buttero Vegetable Tanned Leather comes from Conceria Walpier Tannery in Italy. They are well known for their premium vegetable tanned leathers and the beautiful colors are able to produce.

Beautiful but pricey

The briefcase I received is almost exactly as pictured: the only difference was an ungraded buckle I requested. I chose this briefcase because saddle leather is generally durable, this case is relatively small and lightweight, and it has no liner. The price is on the high side, but the craftsmanship seems good. One important thing I wish I had known is that because of the way the leather is cut, water can easily enter the bottom of the case. Any documents inside are not well protected from the weather. I had expected the body of the case to be sealed--as it is on every other briefcase I have seen--but it is not. You can see the gaps in the sixth picture above, but you can't see that they open directly into the body of the case. I did not recognize this problem when I ordered, so I wanted to call attention to it here. The pockets inside are quite tight, but I like them that way. Overall, this is a very beautiful case, big enough for anything I need to carry, but stylishly minimal and lightweight.
